One of the keys to success in the short term rental (STR) market is understanding the comprehensive STR or vacation rental regulations of the city or town where you plan to invest. Zoning restrictions, registration, permit or licensing requirements, and taxes vary widely. Search to see how your city or town may be affected.

STR Regulations

There are currently no short term rental regulations for Charlotte, NC. However, Charlotte's city leaders want to implement new regulations to address noise, trash and other resident concerns brought on by an increase in the number of vacation rentals throughout the city. The proposal includes limiting the length of stay for renters, limiting the number of residences in certain areas who can rent out their property, and banning all parties and large gatherings. The city council will vote in July 2022.
